A Meaningful Support from Büyükçekmece to Ukraine

2 trucks of humanitarian needs including medical supplies, food and clothing was prepared by the Büyükçekmece Municipality and send to war victims in Ukraine. The ceremony which was held by the participation of the Mayor Dr. Hasan Akgün, Consul General of Istanbul Roman Nedilskyi, the council members as well as the guest Ukrainians who are accommodated by the Büyükçekmece Municipality was full of emotional moments.

The ceremony which was held by the participation of the Mayor Dr. Hasan Akgün, Consul General of Istanbul Roman Nedilskyi, the council members as well as the guest Ukrainians who are accommodated by the Büyükçekmece Municipality was full of emotional moments.

Aids were sent to Kharkiv and Dolyna

While it has been 37 days since the beginning of the war, people are facing new tragedies and suffering every day. Mayor Dr. Hasan Akgün, who contacted with the Consul General Roman Nedilskyi about the needs of Ukrainians from the beginning of the war, took action according to the requests from the territory. Büyükçekmece Municipality that had sent 1 truck of humanitarian aid before, sent 2 trucks of humanitarian aid to Kharkiv that is highly affected by the war and internal migration and sister city Dolyna.

“I condemn those who watch the violence”

Mayor Dr. Hasan Akgün by pointing out the war in Ukraine which started by Russia reached out terrific situation, said that “a nation is massacred in front of the World regardless of children, elderly, women. We condemn those who watch this violence especially Europe, the USA and NATO. We will stand with Ukrainians to the end. As a whole World, we realized that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s phrase of “Peace at home, Peace in the World” is much meaningful today. Today, we are sending 2 trucks of humanitarian aid to war victims in Ukraine. I am grateful everyone those worked for the preparation of the aids especially municipal council members.

“Ukraine will never forget Turkish public”

General Consul of Ukraine in Istanbul Roman Nedilskyi by stating that Russians could not get what they want even though the war that continues for 37 days made a terrific suffering said that “Ukraine is resisting with all its power and do not let Russian army to pass. Ukraine will be the winner of the war. Soon, Russia will lose and victory will be for Ukrainians. When the war ended, Ukrainians will never forget Turks who are with them in their difficult times. I thank you to Mayor Dr. Hasan Akgün, people of Büyükçekmece and those who worked to send humanitarian aid to the war territory in behalf of my country.
